April showers bring May flowers! I always love this time of year - with longer days and spring blooms. Speaking of blooms, one of my favourite community events is coming up in May, the Grassroot Grannies annual plant sale. The Kanata United Church book fair is also returning - not to mention the local farmers’ markets.
Without significant winter runoff, the current water levels are unexpectedly high. I have proactively engaged the Minister of Emergency Preparedness on behalf of all those affected in our community and also requested an update from the Ottawa River Regulation Planning Board (ORRPB).
Today, the Honourable Chrystia Freeland, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, released Budget 2024: Fairness for Every Generation.
This tax season, the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) has introduced a new identity validation option, known as the document verification service, to make it easier to register for digital services including My Account.
Our government today announced a $2.4 billion package of measures from the upcoming Budget 2024 to secure Canada’s AI advantage. These investments will accelerate job growth in Canada’s AI sector and beyond, boost productivity by helping researchers and businesses develop and adopt AI, and ensure this is done responsibly.
We heard from parents, advocates, educators, and most importantly children. A National School Food Program will ensure kids across Canada can focus on learning, not being hungry.
I got to play tea time with two little princesses this month! It was great hearing from parents and ECE’s at Trent University’s Child Care Centre about why they love sending their children there. The answer? It’s affordable, it’s accessible, and they know their children are having fun.
Our government is making every effort to ensure that telecommunications services are reliable, innovative, competitive and—most crucially—affordable.
Happy International Women’s Day! This year’s theme, “Invest in women: Accelerate progress”, reminds us that advancing gender equality helps build stronger communities for everyone.
February may be the shortest month of the year, but it definitely has been a very busy one. I enjoyed spending a lot of time in our community, meeting with residents, students, business leaders, and other constituents at the many events held throughout the month.
The Prime Ministers of Australia, Canada and New Zealand today issued the following statement on reports of Israel’s planned military operation in Rafah.
We’re working with the City of Ottawa to fast track the construction of over 4,400 homes in the next three years. We’re building more affordable homes for Canadians, and stronger, more inclusive communities that leave no one behind.
Today, the Honourable Ahmed Hussen announced that Canada is providing an additional $40 million in funding for humanitarian assistance to address urgent needs stemming from the ongoing crisis in the Gaza Strip.
Yesterday, the House of Commons kicked off its 2024 session. I'm excited to resume my work on behalf of all residents of Kanata—Carleton, and working with my colleagues to tackle important issues including affordability, climate change, and challenges facing Canadians every day.
The Honourable Marc Miller today announced temporary immigration measures to support family members of Canadians and permanent residents from the region, as well as Israelis and Palestinians already in Canada.
