Launch of Area X.O DARTT Testing Facility

The level of innovation happening in Ottawa never ceases to amaze me!

Congratulations to Invest Ottawa and all partners on the launch of the Drone and Advanced Robotic Testing and Training (DARTT) Zone - the first facility of its kind in Canada!

Set in the heart of Area X.O, the DARTT Zone is a high-tech obstacle course, which features specialized infrastructure that puts aerial and ground robots through rigorous tests and challenges in mixed terrain and diverse weather to assess and advance their performance, safety, and market readiness.

Our government’s investment in this project is giving Ottawa’s incredible innovators the tools and facilities they need to build the economy of our future. Leveraging funding from FedDev Ontario and in-kind industry contributions from InDro Robotics, the DARTT Zone will enable innovators and companies to rigorously test, validate, and demonstrate the capabilities of their aerial and ground robotic innovations. This is critical to help mitigate risks, enhance product functionality, and boost customer confidence - accelerating time to market and the safe adoption of these solutions.

Ottawa is fortunate to have strong partners working together to make this project a reality. Area X.O. is a critical piece of our city’s growing tech ecosystem, and I’m excited to see the innovation that will come out of this new facility.
